Today’s Thought

Faithful ones, service and compassion are very important signs of being a follower of Christ. While there are certainly any number of caring, compassionate non-Christians, service is not merely an option for us. It is a requirement. We cannot ignore those who are in need.

In today’s Gospel, we see that one who concerns himself solely with the pleasures of this life, neglecting the call to serve, risks missing out on God’s promise of eternal life for those who believe. Service to others, providing for the less fortunate, these are required of God’s children. We are our brother’s/sister’s keeper. Serve the Lord with gladness!

Heavenly Father, help us with all of our daily struggles. We especially need help being patient. We know that Your will must be done in all things. Remind us daily of the reward that awaits those who remain steadfast and wholly devoted to You. Help us to hear and live according to Your precious Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
